EISENHOWER PARK MODEL YACHT CLUB
36T INVITATIONAL RACE – 2006
The 2006 36T Invitational was held on Saturday, May 20, 2006. Twelve sailors
competed under the Mark 24 System. The weather forecast was for 15 mile per hour winds. The first few races were held in light to moderate winds with some unexpected dead spots on the pond. After that, the wind strengthened for the remaining races with some fluky fluctuations and agonizing dead spots especially neat the finish line. Despite the winds, the race was held in excellent weather with only minor breakdowns. Allan was the RD and Helen recorded the finishes.
Only two skippers failed to start a race and only one failed to finish. We were lucky to have as a guest skipper D. D. Rulon, an accomplished sailor who has recently organized a model yacht club at her senior residence. So far she has enlisted six men and she is guiding them in the basics.
After 12 heats, skippers and spectators retired to a hearty lunch and some friendly sailor talk followed by the trophy presentation. First place went to Mario Nicolich; second went to Ken Keighron and third went to Russ Page. The final standings were as follows:
1. Mario Nicolich
2. Ken Keighron
3. Russ Page
4. George Joos
5. Dick Wenthen
6. Charlie Wanker
7. Ed Crawford
8. Ken Keighron, Jr.

10. Jack Bogan
11. D.D. Rulon
12. George Wohlgemuth
